Records for Antarctica
These are current rankings among the stations reporting to us, not records. They change through the day. This is the most extreme figure we have observed since we started storing readings, not an official record.

What is the lowest temperature ever recorded in Antarctica?
−85.6°C at Vostok, on 9 September 1998, the lowest in the archives we hold for Antarctica. The same caveat applies: it is the deepest figure in our archives rather than a certified national record.

54, of which 37 carry a historical archive. Every figure on this page is drawn from those stations, so it describes what the network saw rather than the whole country.
